There are those in life that leave a lasting impression on you by their example, dedication, and faith. Father Alex Kreidler is one of them. Father Kreidler, pastor of St. Gabriel the Apostle Church and UNICO chaplain, has been called to the Vatican to serve aa a canon lawyer and work with Pope Leo and his staff for the next 5 years.

He is proud of his Italian heritage as his ancestors migrated from Italy. His hometown is St. Joseph, MO and he graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School. He did his seminary training at St. Gregory the Great and at North American College in Rome where he was immersed in his Italian culture. Following his ordination on June 27, 2015 he served in parishes in the diocese of KC-St. Joseph before becoming pastor at St. Gabriel’s. He was also a teacher at St. Pius X High School.
Last year he appeared on a national radio show, EWTN’s “Take Two with Jerry and Debbie”. He delivered a compelling hour interview as he talked about surrendering to God our loving Father and how surrendering is first an act of faith. Among his many talents, Father Kreidler is a pilot, he loves to fly, and one of his favorite hobbies is playing golf. Born into the Italian heritage, he has a real love for cooking. He spent time in the kitchen watching his grandmother and great grandmother cook Italian food. He has always had a passion for cooking and preparing smoked meats. He learned a lot of recipes and cooking techniques from all over Europe. Father Alex is always filled with gratitude when he is able to cook and share with others. Relating this hobby to the Faith, he said, “Cooking is about being with people that you love and giving of yourself. It reminds me of the love that God has for all of us. He wants to be with us, he wants to provide for us. Heaven is often described as a banquet, or as a wedding feast, so sharing and being with those we love is a foretaste of heaven.”

His favorite team-The Hometown Kansas City Chiefs and the Mizzou Tigers.
His greatest piece of advice-All is a gift. Be still and trust in the Lord.
Father Kreidler left us a true gift when he very beautifully and reverently celebrated the outdoor Mass at our Festa this year. While we will miss you Father, we are thrilled that you have been chosen for this distinguished position in the Vatican. Our prayers are with you as you embark on your new and exciting chapter in your life.
Dio ti Benedica!
